Sonny Torres Oliva, D.D.S.
Founder/CEO
Named the “Zentist” by the New York Times, Dr. Sonny Torres Oliva is an accomplished dentist in New York, NY. In private practice since 2003, he has built a loyal clientele who praise his warm, engaging personality, gentle manner and straightforward medical advice. In addition to providing exceptional cosmetic and restorative dentistry, Dr. Oliva is the creator of Zentistry: a collection of scientifically based principles that has transformed the often-feared dental visit into a comfortable, and even relaxing experience for his patients.
A native of the Philippines, Dr. Oliva was raised in the family business, a dental laboratory, and has been a seasoned technician and ceramist for over 30 years. He received his dental degree from the NYU College of Dentistry where he also pursued postgraduate training in Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry. He lectures regularly on Restorative Dentistry, Laboratory Management and Optimal Patient Experience, and acts as a Key Opinion Leader for several major dental supply manufacturers.
His innovative Midtown Manhattan location offers a full range of dental services in a beautiful loft-like setting with luxurious spa amenities. Dental Aesthetic Studio, the in-house dental laboratory, offers custom hand-crafted veneers, crowns, and dentures that are professionally fitted on-site.

Sophia Kim, D.D.S.
Associate Dentist
Dr. Sophia Kim grew up in Johns Creek, Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Northwestern University, and completed a Master of Science at Boston University School of Medicine Graduate Medical Sciences. Her thesis research with colleagues on the relationship between periodontitis and Type 2 Diabetes was published in The Journal of Dental Research.

She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University, where she explored dentistry beyond the classroom setting. In collaboration with colleagues and professors, she founded the Academy of General Dentistry Student Chapter, the Endodontics Study Club and the Dentistry for Special Needs Patients Seminar Series (addressing the Pediatric, Geriatric and Disabled populations.) Dr. Kim expanded her clinical skills in General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center, an affiliate hospital of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Kim is committed to providing quality care to her patients, whom she treats just like friends and family. She is also dedicated to improving and developing her clinical skills through extensive continuing education.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kim enjoys exercising, creating art, traveling, exploring new cuisines and music, and spending time with loved ones.

Shawn Gutman, D.D.S.
Orthodontist
Dr. Gutman graduated from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Feeling unfulfilled as an engineer, he changed his career path to dentistry and attended Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. After graduating with his DDS, he remained at Columbia to complete his 3 year residency training in orthodontics.

Dr. Gutman is a board certified orthodontist. He currently holds a part time clinical faculty appointment at Columbia where he teaches the orthodontic residents.
​
When Dr. Gutman is not seeing patients, he is busy with his aquariums at home. He is an avid aquascaper and freshwater shrimp breeder.
Tiffany Zheng, R.D.H
Lead Dental Hygienist
Tiffany is our Lead Dental Hygienist and has practiced hygiene for over a decade.
She graduated from New York City College of Technology in 2008, where she held an adjunct position as a clinical professor. Her patience, gentle manner and attention to detail make her favorite with patients.
In her leisure time, she likes to read, go biking, travel and spend time with her family.
Dorota Sidyk, R.D.H.
Dental Hygienist
Dorota hails from Warsaw, Poland and now resides in Queens, New York. She came to the United States nearly 15 years ago and began her career as a dental assistant.
In 2013, she graduated from the New York City College of Technology and received the Dental Hygiene Department Award in Overall Academic Excellence. Later, she also pursued a BBA degree at Baruch College.
Outside of the office, Dorota enjoys running races, escaping city noise and hiking mountain trails.
Mei Wu, R.D.H.
Dental Hygienist
Originally from China, Mei is now a resident of Queens, NY.
She graduated New York City College of Technology in 2008 and has been a practicing hygienist for over 12 years. She is an advocate for oral health and enjoys teaching patients how to better take care of their teeth.
During her free time, she loves attending concerts, trying new restaurants and relaxing with a glass of wine.
Luz Salud
Massage Therapist
A native of the Philippines, Luz immigrated to the United States in 2001, and now resides in Long Island, New York.
She earned a degree in Business Administration/Marketing from the University of the East in the Philippines.

Since 2009, Luz has been an integral part of the team of Dr. Sonny Torres Oliva, managing payroll and insurance claims. A recent graduate of the Swedish Institute in New York, New York, she has also become the resident massage therapist, in demand for her soothing reflexology during cleaning appointments.
​
In her spare time, she is an avid line dancer and serves as an officer in her church community.
